Achievements
Magdalena Brzozowska – a pianist, cultural historian, and graduate of the Józef Elsner State Secondary Music School in Warsaw in the class of Prof. Anna Radziwonowicz and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw in the class of Prof. Jerzy Romaniuk (2003). She also trained in numerous music courses, including those with Professors Ryszard Bakst, Barbara Halska, Elżbieta Susmanek, Karol Radziwonowicz, and Wiktor Mierżanow. From 2015 to 2017, she completed a postgraduate internship at the École Normale de Musique de Paris with Prof. Anne Queffélec. She is a laureate of many awards and distinctions in national and international competitions: 1st place and special prizes, including for the performance of a work by F. Chopin, at the Young Pianists’ Competition in Sulechów in 1989; Chopin scholarships in 1992 and 1993; distinction at the 3rd National Karol Szymanowski Music Competition in Zakopane in 1992; distinction at the International Music Interpretation Competition in Krasiczyn in 2006; distinction at the International Piano Music Competition in Budapest (2016); and distinction at the IBLA International Competition in Sicily in 2018. Magdalena Brzozowska also holds a Ph.D. in Humanities (Medieval Studies, 2017, University of Warsaw) and is interested in the history of the Church in the Middle Ages and Jewish studies.
Magdalena Brzozowska has given numerous solo and chamber concerts in Poland (including Warsaw, Wołomin, Żyrardów, Wrocław, Zakopane, Radom, Kraków, Powsin, Kozienice, Brochów, and Żelazowa Wola) and abroad: in Germany (Cottbus, Bremen), France (Paris), Switzerland (Eywald), and Israel (Tel Aviv). She has frequently performed Chopin recitals in Łazienki Park, Brochów, and Żelazowa Wola. In 2012, she promoted Polish music in Israel. She has released three albums with solo piano works by Joseph Christoph Kessler (1800-1872) (world premiere recordings) with the Acte Préalable label. Currently, she is promoting her latest album with works by J. Kessler.
Additionally, Magdalena Brzozowska has been teaching piano for many years, from 2004 to 2018 in Radom, then in Nadarzyn, and since 2021 at the Witold Lutosławski School of Music in Wołomin. She holds the rank of certified teacher and actively participates in the cultural life of the region, encouraging her students to do the same. She has frequently served as a judge in youth piano competitions in Radom.
She has collaborated with, among others, Anna Kalska (clarinet), Dariusz Krajewski (trombone), Swiss pianist Paweł Mazurkiewicz, and most recently with soprano Paulina Marszał-Zych. In autumn 2023, they gave several concerts together featuring opera music. Besides music and medieval studies, Magdalena Brzozowska has many passions, including reading, horseback riding, shooting, and learning foreign languages.
