Maciej Poliszewski

Achievements

An outstanding Polish pianist and long-time piano pedagogue at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He began his musical education at the age of six at Primary Music School No. 1 in Warsaw and continued his studies at the Warsaw State Music High School. After graduating from the Academy of Music in Warsaw, he further refined his skills in the piano classes of Professor Vladimir Merzhanov in Moscow and Professor Mieczysław Munz.

He is a graduate of the renowned Juilliard School in New York. Professor Maciej Poliszewski is a laureate of first prizes at piano competitions in Poland, including the First Piano Competition in Warsaw and in Łódź. He is also a laureate of the G. B. Viotti International Competition in Vercelli (Silver Medal, 1973) and the Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona (Silver Medal, 1976). As a long-time scholarship holder of the Fryderyk Chopin Society in Warsaw, he performed at Poland’s most important music festivals, including those in Duszniki-Zdrój, Słupsk, Gdańsk, and Poznań.

Together with the outstanding Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra, and under the baton of the legendary Jerzy Maksymiuk, he recorded Johann Sebastian Bach’s Concerto in C minor, BWV 1060, and Concerto in C major, BWV 1061, jointly with Andrzej Ratusiński. These and many other recordings are preserved in the archives of Polish Radio. Maciej Poliszewski has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Lebanon, and the United States.

For many years, he has collaborated with the PRESTO Concert Agency, performing hundreds of piano recitals featuring the music of Frédéric Chopin. Since April 2019, these concerts have been held at the Fryderyk Concert Hall.
