CONCERT BY CANDLELIGHT | MARIA KORECKA SOSZKOWSKA
Achievements
In the beautiful interior of the Fryderyk Concert Hall, lit only by candlelight, we will hear Fryderyk Chopin's compositions performed by extraordinary artists – outstanding musicians of our time.
The concerts are two-part recitals lasting approximately 60 minutes, based on the popular 19th-century concept of salon musical gatherings. During the intermission, we will offer you a glass of sparkling wine.

Professor Maria Korecka-Soszkowska is a distinguished figure in the world of music, a laureate of renowned national and international competitions.
She has won:
- Second Prize in the I.J. Paderewski National Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz (1965)
- Honorary Diploma for participation in the 7th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1965)
- First Prize in the International Competition in St. Moritz ("Moderne Klaviertechnik" 1967)
- First Prize for the best interpretation of Spanish music in Santiago de Compostela, Spain (1978).
She studied under the supervision of distinguished teachers: Prof. Janina Stojałowska, Henryk Sztompka, and Dieter Weber.
After graduating with distinction from the State Higher School of Music in Kraków, she began an intensive concert life.
She has performed with Polish philharmonic orchestras and concerts worldwide as a soloist and chamber musician. Her credits include several hundred piano recitals, symphony concerts, and numerous recordings for CDs, television, and radio, including eight CDs featuring music by Fryderyk Chopin, Józef Elsner, and Artur Malawski. She has served on the juries of numerous piano competitions (Ukraine, Denmark, Lithuania, Belarus) and initiated artistic and scientific sessions (2017-2014). Their publications were published by the Piano Department of the Academy of Music in Łódź. She was a professor of piano at Bilkent University in Ankara (2007-2014) and, since 1992, has taught piano classes at the Academy of Music in Łódź. In 2006, she obtained the title of full professor, and in 2007 was appointed head of the Piano Department at the Academy. In 2012, she was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit, and in 2011 and 2013, she received the 1st and 2nd degree awards of the Rector of the Academy of Music in Łódź. In 2017, she received the Gloria Artis silver medal. Since 2019, she has been president of the Stanisław Moniuszko Warsaw Music Society. She was reappointed to this position on February 26, 2024, for another term. Since 1995, she has collaborated with the PRESTO Concert Agency.
