CANDLELIGHT CONCERT - LA BELLE NUIT | JAGODA SOKOŁOWSKA O'DONOVAN | HANNA TURONEK | ROBERT SKIERA

DECEMBER 20th, 2025

La Belle Nuit – a beautiful night when music speaks of love.

It is a series of candlelit concerts dedicated to the art of classical singing – from Baroque raptures to contemporary stories. The evening’s program features the most beautiful arias and songs, often inspired by the theme of love, performed by outstanding artists in an atmosphere of intimacy and candlelight.

In the Fryderyk Concert Hall in Warsaw, reminiscent of the 19th-century music salons of Poland and Europe, we gather to celebrate the voice – the most perfect of instruments. During the intermission – a glass of sparkling wine, just like in times past, when music brought people together in elegance, emotion, and quiet reflection.

La Belle Nuit is more than a concert. It is an encounter with beauty that stays with you for a long time.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the concert.

Jagoda Sokołowska-O’Donovan – mezzo-soprano, flutist, cultural manager, architect of the Fryderyk Concert Hall

A versatile artist and organizer of musical life. She graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Kraków. A laureate of national and international competitions, she has performed in Europe, Asia, and North America. Her artistry was praised by Jerzy Waldorff – a prominent Polish music critic, essayist, and cultural promoter – who described her as “an exceptionally talented artist… an outstanding musical personality.”

Founder and director of the Fryderyk Concert Hall in Warsaw – a unique venue inspired by the era of Chopin and 19th-century music salons, where she combines artistic work with a vision of modern cultural patronage.

Hanna Turonek - flute

A solo musician of the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra, flutist and piccolo player, educator of young artists, and author of a piccolo method book and 42 Etudes – The Piccolo Master.

She specializes in piccolo performance, also playing her own compositions on the instrument.

From 2005 to 2021, she was affiliated with the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw; she now teaches piccolo at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków. She educates young musicians during masterclasses in Poland and abroad and teaches flute at the Fryderyk Chopin Secondary School of Music in Warsaw.

She is also a lecturer for the Sinfonia Varsovia Academy, a project dedicated to honing orchestral performance skills.

Hanna Turonek is a versatile flutist whose interests extend far beyond classical music. She is an enthusiast of ethnic flutes and aerophones from around the world, owning an extraordinary collection. She incorporates these instruments into artistic music, among them: bamboo flutes, the Chinese dizi and hulusi, a glass flute, clay vessel flutes, the Bolivian bamboo moceno, a ram’s horn, and a concha – a sounding seashell – as well as many unnamed pipes. Some of these sounds can be heard on the album Wolność, recorded with Tatar music, and in My Melodies for Exotic Flutes, composed together with Mikołaj Majkusiak.

Robert Skiera – piano

An outstanding Polish pianist and chamber musician, he graduated from the Warsaw University of Music in 1988 in the piano class of Alicja Paleta-Bugaj and the chamber music class of Barbara Halska.

After receiving his diploma, he began working at his alma mater as an assistant professor in the chamber music department, closely collaborating with Piotr Paleczny.

A lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and a teacher at the J. Elsner State Music School Complex, Robert Skiera maintains an active concert and teaching career worldwide. He teaches at international music courses and performs as a soloist and chamber musician with many distinguished artists. His engagements include festivals and concerts in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Hungary, Austria, and Italy. He has performed with renowned Polish musicians and actors and has received excellent reviews across the globe. He is a regular guest on the stage of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw.

He has recorded for numerous radio and television stations worldwide.

For many years, he has performed Chopin concerts for the PRESTO Concert Agency. Since April 2019, these concerts have taken place at the Fryderyk Concert Hall.
