CONCERT BY CANDLELIGHT | JOANNA SOCHACKA

KONCERT PRZY ŚWIECACH | JOANNA SOCHACKA

Achievements

In the beautiful interior of the Fryderyk Concert Hall, illuminated only by candlelight, we will listen to compositions by Frédéric Chopin performed by extraordinary artists - outstanding musicians of our time.

The concerts are two-part recitals lasting approximately 60 minutes, based on the popular 19th-century tradition of salon music gatherings. During the intermission, guests will be offered a glass of sparkling wine.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the concert begins.

Joanna Sochacka is a Polish pianist described by critics as “one of the most promising artists of the young generation” (Classical Mag) and “an artist of hypnotic power and striking intensity” (Lynn René Bayley, ArtMusic Lounge).

She has performed in, among other countries, England, Bulgaria, France, Austria, Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Spain, Switzerland, Estonia, Croatia, the Netherlands, Italy, Moldova, Venezuela, the USA, and Israel, appearing in the most prestigious concert halls. Her debut album featuring music by Grażyna Bacewicz (DUX 1689), a world premiere recording, was received with great enthusiasm worldwide.

She is a laureate of international piano competitions in Poland, Estonia, England, the USA, France, Germany, and Italy, including the 17th International Città di Padova Competition (First Prize and all special prizes, 2019). She is President of the AGITATO Music Foundation, Artistic Director of the BAMA International Music Festival, and of the international competitions Arthur Rubinstein Piano Prize in Łódź and AEGIO – Europe in Vienna. She regularly serves as a jury member at piano competitions. She also gives masterclasses, including for the Association Chinese Culture Music & Arts, the BAMA Piano Festival & Masterclasses, and for the El Sistema and Mozarteum Caracas universities in South America.

She holds a Doctor of Arts degree and is a graduate of the following music universities: the University of Music and Performing Arts in Austria (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst) in the class of Professor Milana Chernyavska; the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź (where she teaches at the Piano Department), in the class of Dr hab. Hanna Holeksa; the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, in the class of Professor Andrzej Pikul; as well as the Haute École de Musique de Genève in Switzerland, in the class of Professor Fabrizio Chiovetta.
