Katarzyna Glensk is a talented Polish pianist, who gives concerts as a soloist and chamber musician. Katarzyna has performed in the United States, Russia and in many European countries, has collaborated with the Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, regularly performs Chopin recitals and is frequently invited to perform at music festivals.
Her first piano lesson was given by her father. At the age of 4 she began studying at the Fryderyk Chopin State College of Music in Opole. Katarzyna continued her studies at the Academy of Music Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw, in the piano class of Prof. Bronisława Kawalli and chamber music class of Prof. Mai Nosowska. She furthered her musical abilities in postgraduate studies under Prof. Jan Ekier and Prof. Bronislaw Kawalli. She trained as a scholarship student at summer music courses in Dartington (UK). In 2001 Katarzyna became a Trinity College of Music scholarship holder in London.
Her achievements include many awards and distinctions, among others: first prize at the 7th International Chamber Music Competition L. Janačka (Brno), first prize of L. Smith Duo Prize (London) – both in duet with Ewa Mizerska, first prize of The Chopin Prize (London) and second prize in the competition of E. Schumann Duo Prize for Lieder (London).
In duet with Ewa Mizerska, Katarzyna performed the Polish premiere of Sonata for cello and piano op.99 by Krzysztof Meyer. This work was featured on a monographic album devoted to works by the Polish composer published by Toccata Classics in London. On the occasion of the Chopin Year, the pianist recorded a composer’s CD. Since 2009, with the violinist Henryk Trzonek, they have created Duo Kreisler, presenting a wide repertoire of music. The duo has performed in many European countries and in the USA (New York).
