Joanna Ławrynowicz

Achievements

Joanna Ławrynowicz is a Warsaw native with a family heritage of deep musical traditions. Joanna had her first “public appearance” at the age of seven during a concert in the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. This just three years on from starting to learn piano, in the class of Hanna Lachertowa, at four.

The Fryderyk Chopin Academy in Warsaw is where Joanna continued her musical education. In 1998 Joanna graduated (diploma with distinctions), in the class of piano Professor Teresa Manasterska.

Following on from this, and under the tutorship of the famous Polish Pianist Professor Halina Czerny-Stefańska, Joanna continued her studies.

To date Joanna is a prize-winner of four international competitions:

  • The International Piano Competition “Art Livre” in Sao Paulo (Brazil) – 2001 yr.

  • The International Piano Competition of Halina Czerny-Stefańska in Ajigasawa (Japan) – 2000 yr.

  • The International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Darmstadt – 1999 yr.

  • The International Steinway & Sons Piano Competition in Berlin – 1990 yr.


Joanna Ławrynowicz has also been awarded many artistic scholarships including: 

The Fryderyk Chopin Scholarship Fund and The scholarship of the Polish Section of the “European Piano Teachers Association”.

For many years now Joanna has performed extensively as a soloist, given symphonic concerts and performed chamber music (this last category usually in a duo with her husband, cellist, Jarosław Domżał or in “The Warsaw Trio”). Joanna has worked with famous conductors of the young generation: Tomasz Bugaj, Adam Natanek, Janusz Przybylski, Ruben Silva, Jan Miłosz Zarzycki, Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk.

Joanna Ławrynowicz has performed throughout the globe - delivering numerous stage presentations in Poland, as well as in the USA, Germany, Cyprus, Austria, Turkey, Holland, France, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Belarus, Estonia, Cambodia, China, Japan and Vietnam. Joanna has also participated in many International Music Festivals, such as the Harbin Music Festival (China), Schwetzinger Festspiele, Klevaische Klaviersommes, Altenburger Music Festival (all in Germany) and the North Cyprus International Bellapais Music Festival (Cyprus).

“Classica” (in 1999) published an audio CD with compositions of Fryderyk Chopin, performed by Joanna M. Ławrynowicz. The next two CD’s were chamber compositions and piano solo works by Polish composer Romuald Twardowski in 2002 and 2004 (“Acte Prealable”), as well as Henryk Melcer’s chamber works in 2004 (“Acte Prealable”). She has completed numerous recordings for Polish Radio and Television and for the Suddeutcher Rundfunk.

As an Assistant Professor at piano class in the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Joanna Ławrynowicz has been also conducting pedagogic activities.
