Chihiro Deguchi

Achievements

Chihiro Deguchi was born in Yokohama, Japan. In 2017, she graduated with a bachelor's degree from Tokyo College of Music. After completing her studies in Tokyo, she moved to Poland to further hone her skills. In 2019, she earned a Master of Arts degree from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, graduating among the top students of the year. Currently, she is undergoing an artistic internship in the piano class of Professor Joanna Ławrynowicz-Just and in the piano chamber music class of Professor Robert Morawski. She also attends lessons on historical instruments conducted by Professor Maria Gabryś-Heyke.

She is a laureate of numerous piano competitions. Her achievements include the first prize at the 7th International Piano Competition in Trzciana, the first prize at the 2nd Swiss International Music Competition in Switzerland, the second prize at the 9th Odin International Music Competition in Estonia, the third prize at the Chopin Sessions Felanitx 2022 International Piano Competition in Spain, the second prize at the 1st C.I.R.C.E. Salina 2022 International Music Competition in Italy, a distinction at the 7th Danubia Talents International Music Competition in Budapest, the first prize at the OPUS 2023 International Music Competition in Krakow, the second prize at the Orbetello 2023 International Piano Competition in Italy, the second prize at the 8th International Music Competition in Moscow, the second prize at the 12th AMIGDALA International Music Competition in Italy, and she was a finalist at the Anton Rubinstein 2023 International Competition in Düsseldorf.

She has participated in masterclasses conducted by renowned pianists and educators such as Elżbieta Stefańska, Andrzej Jasiński, Philippe Giusiano, Michel Béroff, Roland Krüger, Piotr Banasik, Carlo Palese, Jura Margulis, Noriko Ogawa, Tobias Koch, Katarzyna Drogosz, Tomasz Ritter, Frank-Immo Zichner, and Janis Maleckis.

She has performed in various venues in Poland and Japan, including the National Philharmonic in Warsaw, the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, the Warsaw Music Society, Staszic Palace, the Museum of King Jan III’s Palace at Wilanów, the Cyprian Norwid Museum in Dębinki, the Copernicus Science Centre, the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, and the University of Warsaw. She performed in the Chopin Marathon organized by Polish Radio on the occasion of Independence Day in 2022. Currently, she is a scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Japan Institute of Art Public Foundation.
